The Law National Aptitude Test (LNAT)
The Law National Admissions Test (LNAT) is a 2-hour 15-minute test that applicants have to give if applying for either Law or Law with Law Studies in Europe. The test doesn’t test the knowledge of law or any other subject. Instead, it helps universities assess the applicant’s aptitude for the skills required to study law.
Divided into two sections, Section A is a computer-based, multiple-choice exam consisting of 42 questions whereas for Section B, applicants have 40 minutes to write an essay from a list of three proposed subjects. Only Section A (MCQ) is scored. While section B isn’t marked by the assessment centre, it will be shared with the universities that the applicants have applied to.
The test should be taken in the UCAS year in which the applicant is applying to university. They can only sit the test once in the cycle (September to June), and results cannot be carried over from one year to the next.
